Job Description
We are partnering with a boutique Chicago law firm seeking a Counsel to join its commercial litigation practice. With a low 1,300 billable hour requirement, this role offers excellent work-life balance in a collaborative environment, along with the opportunity to grow a book of business and expand into employment or soft IP litigation.
Responsibilities
- Manage all phases of commercial litigation from pleadings through trial prep
- Draft motions, briefs, and other legal documents
- Handle written discovery and take/defend depositions
- Support case strategy and client communication
- Collaborate with a small, high-level team on complex matters
- Contribute to business development; manage matters you originate
Qualifications
- 4–8 years of commercial litigation experience
- Strong legal writing and analytical skills
- Ability to manage cases independently
- Experience in employment or soft IP litigation is a plus
- Strong communication skills and a team-oriented mindset
- Positive attitude and desire to grow within a boutique environment
