Personal Injury Litigation Paralegal
Location: Chicago, IL
Salary: $85,000
Our client is seeking a Personal Injury Litigation Paralegal to support attorneys throughout the full lifecycle of personal injury cases. This role plays a critical part in keeping cases organized and moving forward, from claim management through litigation and trial preparation. Responsibilities include managing case files, coordinating medical records and documentation, preparing legal filings, communicating with clients and external parties, and tracking litigation deadlines. The ideal environment for this position is fast-paced, collaborative, and focused on delivering exceptional client service while managing a high-volume caseload.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and maintain personal injury case files from intake through resolution
- Obtain, organize, and review medical records and billing documentation
- Prepare pleadings, discovery requests and responses, subpoenas, and other litigation-related documents
- Assist with filing documents in state and federal courts
- Communicate with clients regarding case updates and information requests
- Coordinate with insurance carriers, medical providers, and opposing counsel
- Track court deadlines, discovery schedules, and key litigation milestones
- Prepare exhibits, witness materials, deposition documents, and trial binders
- Support attorneys during mediation, settlement negotiations, and trial preparation
Qualifications:
- 3-5+ years of paralegal experience within a personal injury law firm
- Experience supporting cases throughout the litigation process
- Strong understanding of court procedures, filings, and litigation deadlines
- Ability to manage a high-volume caseload and multiple priorities simultaneously
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Experience working with legal case management systems
Nice to have:
- Experience with Legal Files or similar case management platforms
- State and federal court filing experience
- Trial preparation experience
- Medical records review and damages summary experience
- Experience coordinating with insurance adjusters and healthcare providers
- Paralegal certification
- Bilingual Spanish skills
