Director, Business Development & Commercial Strategy

The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is one of the world's most respected cancer centers, dedicated to the elimination of cancer through the integration of patient care, research, and prevention. Central to advancing that mission is the translation of scientific discovery into meaningful partnerships with the biopharmaceutical, medical device, and nonprofit communities. The Director, Business Development and Commercial Strategy serves as a key leader in that effort.

Reporting to the Vice President of Strategic Industry Ventures within the Office of the Chief Scientific Officer, the Director will oversee the development and growth of collaborative and commercial opportunities that align with institutional strategy and vision. This position carries significant external visibility and requires direct engagement with industry and institutional leadership at the most senior levels.

Qualified candidates will possess a minimum of ten years of demonstrated success in business development, licensing, or commercial strategy within or in partnership with the biopharmaceutical industry, accompanied by an established professional network across biopharma, venture capital, and academic medicine. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to synthesize complex scientific, technical, and financial information and to advance opportunities with sound judgment, strategic acumen, and a high degree of relationship intelligence.

The Director will lead a team of business development professionals and will represent the institution at national industry conferences and on institutional committees. An advanced degree in business administration, health administration, public health, biomedical science, or an equivalent discipline is required.
