Position Overview

Our client is seeking a motivated Development Staff Accountant to support the accounting team across development and corporate accounting functions. This role offers broad exposure to real estate accounting and provides an excellent opportunity for someone looking to grow within a commercial real estate development environment.

The ideal candidate is eager to learn, asks thoughtful questions, and enjoys taking on new responsibilities. This position will initially focus on bank reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end accounting before expanding into additional development accounting responsibilities as experience grows.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare journal entries and maintain the general ledger.
• Perform monthly bank reconciliations and account reconciliations.
• Assist with month-end and year-end close processes.
• Prepare financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
• Process accounts payable and assist with accounts receivable functions.
• Maintain supporting schedules and accounting documentation.
• Assist with development project accounting and financial reporting.
• Support internal and external audit requests.
• Assist with maintaining accurate accounting records across multiple entities.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and efficiencies.
• Support various accounting projects and departmental initiatives as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 1–3 years of accounting experience.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and general accounting principles.
• Experience with journal entries, account reconciliations, bank reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
• Experience with Rent Manager is a plus.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
