Role Overview
The System Engineer Body Control Features is responsible for supporting the definition, integration, and validation of vehicle body control features across automotive programmes. With 4–7 years of experience, the role focuses on translating vehicle and user requirements into clear system specifications, supporting supplier integration, and ensuring robust delivery of body electronics features in line with quality, safety, and regulatory expectations.
Experience Required
- 4–7 years of experience in automotive systems engineering, body electronics, or related domains
• Exposure to OEM or Tier1 vehicle feature delivery environments
• Experience supporting cross-functional and supplier interactions
Technical Skills & Knowledge
- Fundamental systems engineering principles
- Automotive body electronics architectures
- Vehicle networks: CAN and LIN
- Basic diagnostics concepts (UDS, DTCs)
- Requirements management and traceability
- Understanding of sensors, actuators, and electrical interfaces
- Exposure to embedded software behaviour in body ECUs
Tools & Technologies
- JAMA, DOORS – Requirements management
- JIRA, Confluence – Task and documentation tracking
- CAN/LIN analysis tools (e.g. CANalyzer, CANoe)
- OEM and supplier diagnostic tools
Standards & Compliance Awareness
The role operates within established automotive standards and processes, with working awareness of ISO 26262 (Functional Safety), ISO 21434 (Cybersecurity), Automotive SPICE, and relevant body electronics regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Support elicitation and documentation of vehicle and system-level requirements for body control features using JAMA / DOORS.
- Decompose vehicle-level requirements into system and ECU-level functional requirements under guidance of senior engineers.
- Support definition of system architectures for body electronics including Body Control Modules (BCMs) and distributed body ECUs.
- Create and maintain system specifications, feature descriptions, and Interface Control Documents (ICDs).
- Develop and validate key features of Battery pack (HV), Inverter, Motor, OBC (signals, messages, LIN schedules, IO mapping)
- Design and validate
- Support integration of sensors, actuators, and ECUs across body domains.
- Collaborate with software, electrical, validation, and vehicle integration teams to ensure consistent feature behaviour.
- Support supplier interactions including requirements clarification and issue tracking.
- Assist in development of validation strategies, test cases, and acceptance criteria for body features.
- Participate in bench, rig, and vehicle testing activities and support issue investigation.
- Track issues, actions, and requirements traceability using JIRA and related tools.
- Ensure system implementations align with functional safety and cybersecurity expectations.
