Job Description
AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain — and we’re looking for talented people who want to help.
You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you’ll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.
As a Technical Trainer, you will be responsible for delivering technical training programs for DCC Operations teams. You will manage and conduct initial technical training programs for new hires, ensuring they are properly equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to operate and maintain AWS's sophisticated data center infrastructure.
Key job responsibilities
- Design and deliver engaging instructor-led training sessions covering data center operations, critical infrastructure systems, and standard operating procedures
- Manage all logistics of Initial Training programs, including scheduling, classroom coordination, and lab space utilization
- Maintain and certify instructor qualifications and perform certification observations
- Monitor trainee progress and address any behavioral or policy issues
- Process training completions and maintain accurate training records
- Serve as Subject Matter Expert for all lab equipment and training facilities
- Maintain and optimize training spaces and equipment
- Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for lab equipment operation
- Create practical training scenarios that simulate real-world data center situations
- Support the setup and commissioning of new training labs across different regions
- Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts to develop and update training materials
- Identify and implement improvements to training content and delivery methods
- Stay current with latest data center technologies and operational practices
Your day may begin with preparing a lab space for an incoming cohort of new hires, followed by delivering an instructor-led session on critical infrastructure systems like UPS and HVAC. By midday, you could be conducting certification observations for trainees, reviewing their progress, and providing coaching. In the afternoon, you might collaborate with SMEs to update training materials based on new SOPs, or coordinate logistics for an upcoming training program at a regional site. You'll balance classroom delivery, hands-on lab facilitation, and program management — all while ensuring every technician leaving your program is equipped to maintain AWS's world-class data center infrastructure.
