Position Details

Job Title: Manager – Metal & Glass

Location: Bangalore, India

Purpose of the Position

The purpose of this role is to drive business growth for Oxygen-Based Combustion Solutions across the Metal, Glass, Cement, and Non-Ferrous industries by identifying new business opportunities, providing technical solutions, managing project implementation, and delivering value-added services to customers. The incumbent will be responsible for developing market demand, securing new projects, and ensuring successful deployment of advanced combustion technologies.

Principal Responsibilities

Business Development & Market Expansion

  • Identify, generate, and develop new business opportunities for Oxygen-Based Combustion Systems across industries such as Iron & Steel, Aluminium, Copper, Zinc, Lead, Glass, Cement, and related sectors.
  • Conduct market surveys, customer mapping, and competitor analysis to identify potential customers and market opportunities.
  • Develop and execute go-to-market strategies to increase market penetration and business growth.
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships through regular engagement and value-added technical support.

Technical Solution Development

  • Collect process data and perform technical evaluations to assess project feasibility and customer requirements.
  • Prepare techno-commercial proposals and coordinate with the sales team to secure project orders.
  • Select suitable equipment and establish design criteria for combustion system projects.
  • Provide innovative and energy-efficient combustion solutions tailored to customer processes.

Project Execution & Customer Support

  • Actively participate in project installation, commissioning, safety audits, process optimization, and customer training programs.
  • Ensure smooth project handover and maintain long-term customer engagement post-implementation.
  • Support troubleshooting activities and recommend process improvements to maximize customer benefits.
  • Monitor project performance and ensure compliance with safety, quality, and operational standards.

Performance & Business Management

  • Consistently achieve project sign-up, start-up, and revenue targets.
  • Lead negotiations and influence customer decision-making through strong technical and commercial presentations.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision while effectively managing multiple projects and priorities.
  • Support strategic business planning through market intelligence and business analysis.

Required Key Skills

Technical Competencies

  • Strong understanding of process design, unit operations, mass and energy balances, heat transfer, combustion, and reaction engineering.
  • Extensive knowledge of industrial furnaces, burners, combustion systems, and thermal processes.
  • Experience in project engineering, installation, commissioning, and process optimization.
  • Knowledge of industrial gas applications and oxygen-based combustion technologies is highly desirable.

Business & Commercial Competencies

  • Strong business development and market expansion capabilities.
  • Proven ability to commercialize innovative technologies and drive customer adoption.
  • Excellent customer engagement, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
  • Experience in business analysis, competitor assessment, and opportunity identification.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Metallurgical Engineering is a must
  • Minimum 7 years of relevant industrial experience in one or more target industries, including:
  • Integrated Steel Plants (Blast Furnace, Steel Melt Shop, Rolling Mills)
  • Primary Non-Ferrous Industries (Aluminium, Copper, Zinc, Lead)
  • Glass Manufacturing Industry
  • Cement Industry
  • Experience in industrial gas applications, combustion systems, project implementation, and technical sales/business development will be an added advantage.

  • Successful commissioning and start-up of combustion projects.
  • Customer satisfaction and retention.
  • Growth in oxygen-based combustion solution adoption within target industries.
  • Safe and timely execution of projects.

This version is suitable for a mid-to-senior-level technical business development role focused on industrial gases, combustion technologies, and project implementation.
