Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Sr. Credit Analyst - Commercial Real Estate to join a banking team in the Greater Boston area. This role focuses on evaluating the financial strength of commercial and individual borrowers, identifying risk, and supporting sound lending decisions. The position works closely with commercial lenders to assess credit opportunities, maintain portfolio quality, and deliver clear recommendations aligned with established credit standards.
Responsibilities
• Evaluate borrower financial information, including business and personal financial statements, tax returns, and supporting documentation, to determine credit quality and repayment capacity
• Gather required materials from lenders and borrowers and organize information needed to complete thorough credit assessments for new and existing loan relationships
• Develop written credit analyses, financial models, summaries, and recommendations to support lending decisions and appropriate facility structures
• Examine loan documentation and credit files to confirm completeness, accuracy, and proper perfection of collateral
• Partner with commercial lending teams to monitor existing relationships, identify emerging credit concerns, and support new business opportunities
• Prepare or contribute to loan presentations, annual reviews, modification requests, credit file commentary, and other portfolio reporting as required
• Maintain organized credit records for commercial borrowers and assist with servicing needs, borrower inquiries, and renewal-related underwriting activities
Background
• At least 5 years of commercial credit or commercial and industrial lending analysis experience, including exposure to loan sizes ranging from approximately $500,000 to $35 million.
• Strong ability to interpret personal and business financial statements, tax returns, and related credit documentation.
• Demonstrated knowledge of commercial lending practices, credit structuring, underwriting, and portfolio risk evaluation.
• Formal credit training and experience with commercial underwriting platforms such as Loan Vantage are preferred.
