Job Title: Senior Linux / Unix SME

Role Summary

Primary Focus

This is a senior infrastructure engineering and platform modernization role supporting large-scale enterprise environments with 20,000+ servers across datacenters and cloud platforms. The position combines Linux/Unix administration, incident management, automation, cloud migration, virtualization, and infrastructure transformation.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead P1/P2 incident response, root cause analysis, and service restoration
• Manage Red Hat Enterprise Linux lifecycle, upgrades, patching, and compliance
• Automate infrastructure using Ansible, Chef, Bash, KornShell, and Python
• Lead RHEL 7 to RHEL 8 migration projects
• Migrate legacy Unix platforms (AIX, HP-UX, Solaris) to Linux and Azure
• Support hybrid cloud environments across VMware, Nutanix, VxRail, and Azure
• Design and test disaster recovery and high-availability solutions
• Support enterprise platforms such as SAP, Oracle, Teamcenter, and HPC environments
• Maintain security, monitoring, vulnerability remediation, and compliance standards

• 7-10 years of Linux/Unix engineering experience
• Experience supporting very large enterprise environments (10,000+ servers)
• Deep expertise in incident management and RCA
• Hands-on migration experience from Unix to Linux and on-premises to cloud
• Strong automation and infrastructure-as-code skills
• Experience leading modernization and transformation initiatives
  
  

Overall Level

This is a senior-to-lead infrastructure engineering role best suited for an experienced Linux/Unix architect or SME with strong enterprise operations, cloud migration, automation, and modernization experience. The requirement to support 20,000+ servers and lead major transformation initiatives places it at the upper end of the senior engineer/SME spectrum.
