Role & responsibilities
- Lead and manage all PAN India corporate litigation matters, including disputes related to commercial contracts, intellectual property, and regulatory issues.
- Develop and drive litigation strategies to protect the organization's interests and minimize legal risks.
- Provide strategic legal guidance to senior leadership on high-value, complex, and sensitive disputes.
- Oversee the preparation and review of legal documents such as pleadings, motions, and discovery materials.
- Represent the organization in court hearings, arbitrations, and mediations, or coordinate with external counsel as necessary.
- Oversee the selection, engagement, and management of external law firms and legal service providers.
- Monitor and evaluate the performance of external counsel to ensure effective and efficient legal representation.
- Negotiate fees and billing arrangements with external counsel to manage legal expenses.
- Monitor changes in legislation and regulatory requirements that may impact the organization's operations.
- Prepare and present regular reports on litigation matters to senior management and the board of directors.
- Ensure maintenance of litigation records, legal MIS, documentation, and compliance with internal policies and statutory requirements.
- Ensure proper documentation and retention of legal files in accordance with company policies.
Preferred candidate profile
- LLB/ LLM with 15+ years of experience in lending business i.e. NBFC/ Banking
- Extensive experience in handling criminal litigation and loan recovery matters, particularly cases involving rural borrower segments.
- Proven experience in managing against the company legal proceedings and engaging effectively with law enforcement agencies.
- Must possess strategic legal acumen and operational familiarity with enforcement protocols
