Job Description – Tech Lead (Python)
Role Overview
We are looking for a Tech Lead (Backend-focused) who will drive end-to-end backend architecture and delivery, while enabling select GenAI capabilities (RAG, LLM integrations) within solutions.
This is a hands-on leadership role combining technical ownership, system design, and team guidance, with minor GenAI exposure.
Key Responsibilities
1. Backend Architecture & Design (Primary)
- Lead design of scalable, high-performance backend systems
- Define microservices architecture, APIs, and data models
- Ensure performance, reliability, security, and scalability
2. Technical Delivery Ownership
- Own end-to-end backend delivery across pods
- Drive design reviews, code quality, and technical decisions
- Align backend delivery with overall project timelines and milestones
3. Cloud & Platform Engineering
- Architect and deploy solutions on Microsoft Azure
- Define cloud-native patterns (stateless services, scaling, resiliency)
- Ensure CI/CD, observability, and system monitoring
4. GenAI Enablement (Secondary)
- Guide integration of LLM APIs (Azure OpenAI, etc.) into backend services
- Oversee implementation of:
- RAG pipelines (basic level)
- Prompt orchestration and API integration
- Ensure secure and cost-efficient usage of GenAI
5. Team Leadership & Mentoring
- Mentor backend engineers and enforce coding standards & best practices
- Provide technical guidance and unblock teams
- Drive engineering maturity and ownership mindset
6. Cross-Functional Coordination
- Work closely with Product, BA, QA, DevOps
- Ensure clear alignment between technical and business delivery
- Support estimation, planning, and execution governance
7. Risk & Quality Management
- Identify technical risks, dependencies, and bottlenecks
- Ensure test coverage, performance tuning, and production readiness
Required Skills
Must-Have
- 8-12 years Python backend experience
- Strong in:
- System Design & Architecture
- API design (FastAPI/Flask)
- SQL/NoSQL databases
- Deep experience with Azure cloud ecosystem
- Experience leading teams or modules end-to-end
Good-to-Have (GenAI – Secondary)
- Experience integrating LLMs / OpenAI APIs
- Understanding of:
- RAG architecture
- Prompt engineering basics
- Vector DB concepts
