Job Description

Role Overview:
The State Head Sales will be responsible for driving end-to-end sales, distribution, and market expansion for EDC machines, SMB merchant acquisition, and QR payment solutions across the assigned state. The role requires strong leadership, channel management, and execution capabilities to scale merchant acceptance infrastructure and achieve business targets.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Sales & Business Growth
  • Own and deliver state-level targets for EDC deployment, QR onboarding, and SMB merchant acquisition.
  • Drive GMV/TPV growth through increased merchant activation and usage.
  • Identify high-potential markets, clusters, and segments for expansion.
2. Team Leadership & Management
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a large field sales team (ASM, TLs, FSEs).
  • Set clear targets, monitor performance, and drive productivity.
  • Build a high-performance, target-driven sales culture.
3. Channel & Distribution Management
  • Develop and manage channel partners, distributors, and aggregators.
  • Strengthen on-ground distribution network for deeper market penetration.
  • Ensure optimal coverage across urban and rural markets.
4. Merchant Lifecycle Management
  • Oversee onboarding, activation, retention, and engagement of merchants.
  • Ensure high activation rates and sustained transaction behavior.
  • Drive cross-sell of EDC devices, QR solutions, and value-added services.
5. Market Intelligence & Strategy
  • Track competitor activities, pricing, and market trends.
  • Provide actionable insights to central teams for product and pricing strategies.
  • Customize go-to-market strategies based on local market dynamics.
6. Stakeholder Management
  • Collaborate with Product, Operations, Risk, and Marketing teams.
  • Ensure smooth execution of campaigns, product launches, and process rollouts.
  • Manage escalations and ensure merchant satisfaction.
Key Requirements: Education & Experience
  • Graduate/MBA preferred.
  • 5-15 years of experience in sales, preferably in fintech, payments, banking, or telecom.
  • Prior experience in handling state-level or large regional roles.
Functional Skills
  • Strong understanding of EDC/POS business, QR payments (UPI), and SMB ecosystem.
  • Proven track record in merchant acquisition and sales target achievement.
  • Experience in managing large field sales teams and channel partners.
