Job Title: Senior Database Engineer (SQL Server)

Job Summary:

We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Database Engineer with strong expertise in Microsoft SQL Server. The ideal candidate should have deep technical knowledge of database design, performance tuning, and the ability to understand, analyze, and enhance existing database procedures. This role requires strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work on complex database systems in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

Required Skills & Qualifications:

6+ years of experience working with Microsoft SQL Server

Strong expertise in T-SQL, stored procedures, functions, and triggers

Hands-on experience with query optimization and performance tuning

Ability to read, understand, and modify complex existing database code

Experience with database design, normalization, and indexing strategies

Knowledge of SQL Server tools such as SSMS, SQL Profiler, and execution plans

Familiarity with backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies

Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with cloud platforms (Azure SQL, AWS RDS, or GCP SQL)

Knowledge of database CI/CD and deployment automation

Exposure to Agile/Scrum environments

Experience with large-scale or high-transaction systems

Soft Skills:

Strong communication and collaboration skills

Ability to work independently and handle multiple priorities

Attention to detail and commitment to quality

Proactive and ownership-driven mindset

Job responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

Design, develop, and maintain SQL Server databases to ensure high performance, availability, and reliability

Analyze and understand existing database structures, stored procedures, functions, and triggers

Optimize complex queries, stored procedures, and indexing strategies for performance improvements

Troubleshoot database issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions

Collaborate with application teams to support database-related requirements and deployments

Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance with organizational standards

Participate in release activities, including database deployments and migrations

Create and maintain technical documentation for database processes and changes

Monitor database performance and proactively recommend improvements

Support production issues and provide timely resolution
