Macdonald & Company have been exclusively retained by a well-capitalized real estate investor and developer to appoint a Vice President to join its Atlanta-based residential investment platform.


This firm is actively investing in multifamily and residential development opportunities across the United States and continues to expand its portfolio of projects. The successful candidate will play a leadership role overseeing asset performance while supporting the evaluation of new investment opportunities across the platform.


Role Summary

The Vice President will lead asset management oversight across the firm’s residential development portfolio while supporting the evaluation and analysis of new development investments. The position requires a commercially minded real estate professional capable of managing asset performance, guiding portfolio strategy, and coordinating with development partners and internal teams.


Responsibilities

  • Asset Management Leadership & Portfolio Oversight
  • Lead asset management oversight across the residential development portfolio and drive execution of asset-level business plans.
  • Monitor project performance relative to underwriting assumptions and identify opportunities to enhance value and mitigate risks.
  • Review operating performance, leasing trends, construction progress, and financial reporting across active developments.
  • Oversee portfolio reviews, financial reporting, and performance monitoring.
  • Evaluate leasing strategy, stabilization planning, and capital expenditure initiatives.
  • Coordinate with development partners, property managers, and internal teams to ensure successful project execution.


Investment & Development Support

  • Support the underwriting and evaluation of new development opportunities and joint venture investments.
  • Assist in reviewing development partner proposals, investment materials, and underwriting assumptions.
  • Support due diligence processes including financial analysis, market research, and coordination with internal and external advisors.
  • Contribute to preparation of investment committee materials and internal investment memos.


Relationship & Internal Leadership

  • Maintain and expand relationships with developers, brokers, lenders, property managers, and market participants.
  • Collaborate internally across investment, development, and finance teams to support project execution and portfolio monitoring.
  • Provide guidance to junior team members involved in analysis and asset monitoring.
  • Support strategic initiatives and growth of the residential investment platform.


Requirements

  • 8–12 years of experience within real estate investment, development, or asset management.
  • Experience overseeing or managing multifamily or residential development assets preferred.
  • Strong financial modeling and investment analysis experience.
  • Solid understanding of development processes, capital structures, and joint venture investment partnerships.
  • Advanced Excel proficiency and strong command of Microsoft Office tools.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
