Training Specialist

Department of Commerce (DOC) – CISO Cyber Support


Overview

This role involves developing, coordinating, and evaluating cyber training and education courses to support the cybersecurity workforce within the Department of Commerce. The position requires conducting research to revise training materials and delivering formal classroom courses and workshops, contributing to the development of cyberspace workforce plans and strategies.


Education & Certification Requirements

A Bachelor's Degree is required. Candidates should have experience with federal workforce planning, training course development, and instruction.


Clearance Requirements

Public Trust clearance is required, with a preference for candidates who already possess it. Candidates who can obtain the clearance quickly are also considered.


Onsite Requirements

This role is a hybrid opportunity at the Department of Commerce headquarters in Washington, DC, requiring work onsite 2-3 days per week during core hours.


Responsibilities

  • Conduct research to develop or revise cybersecurity training courses.
  • Prepare training materials and facilitate formal classroom courses and workshops.
  • Develop, plan, and evaluate cyber training/education methods and techniques based on instructional needs.
  • Collaborate with Federal project managers to develop workforce plans, strategies, and guidance supporting cybersecurity personnel training and education.
  • Address changes to cyberspace policy, doctrine, materiel, force structure, and training requirements.


Qualifications

  • Over 5 years of experience in cybersecurity or related training roles.
  • Proven ability to operate independently and manage training development projects.
  • Experience with developing and delivering technical training courses.
  • Familiarity with federal cybersecurity workforce policies and planning.
  • Strong research skills for course content development.

  • Experience working with federal agencies and cybersecurity workforce initiatives.
  • Ability to adapt training strategies to evolving cyber threats and policies.
