About the Team

You will be part of the General Accounting team based out of our headquarters in San Francisco, California. This team is responsible for ensuring the consolidated financial statements of Williams-Sonoma, Inc. are complete and accurate, including managing the global monthly accounting close.

Overview Of The Role

We are looking for a Staff Accountant to support the General Ledger team with month end close activities and other tasks.

Responsibilities


  • Prepare and post journal entries in Oracle and maintain and run allocations in accordance with established deadlines.
  • Prepare schedules and supporting calculations for prepaids, paper, and postage purchases and usage; review and validate invoices for paper purchases; and communicate with and support Technology and Marketing teams regarding related questions.
  • Maintain the inventory of standard journal entries and perform controls to ensure all required entries are accurately and timely posted.
  • Assist the manager with month-end close communications and completion of assigned close tasks.
  • Validate transactions interfaced into the general ledger and analyze accounts to ensure transactions are accurately coded.
  • Complete month-end close validations on a timely basis and proactively follow up with business partners on outstanding items.
  • Perform cash application activities in Oracle Accounts Receivable for franchise customers.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for users requiring assistance with journal entry uploads in Oracle, reversals, approval workflows, report generation, and other ad hoc requests.
  • Perform account reconciliations and investigate and resolve variances in a timely manner.
  • Support internal and external audit requests by providing documentation and explanations as needed.
  • Support the General Ledger and Accounts Receivable teams with additional assigned tasks and special projects.


Criteria


  • You have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • You have a minimum of 2 years of experience in a corporate accounting environment; global, publicly-traded company preferred
  • You have demonstrated strong analytical skills
  • You are a self-starter, are highly reliable and have a strong work ethic
  • You have solid professional judgment and know when to escalate
  • You adapt to changes quickly, able to utilize new technologies to improve general accounting processes
  • You can work well under pressure and produce high-quality work within tight deadlines
  • You are professional in your communications (both written and verbal)
  • Proficient in Excel: creating pivot tables, advanced formulas and functions e.g. VLOOKUPS
  • Previous experience with Oracle Cloud ERP is a plus
  • Ability to work onsite in the San Francisco office Monday - Thursday and work remotely on Fridays.

The expected starting pay range for this position is $75,000-$95,000. Applicable pay ranges may differ across markets. Actual pay will be determined based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law. In addition to competitive pay, compensation may include a variety of other components like benefits, paid time off, merit, and bonus opportunities.
