Job Summary

As an Azure Solution Sales Consultant for Cloud Services, you will partner with field sales, solution architects, and delivery teams to uncover customer needs, shape solution direction, and articulate the business value of Azure across infrastructure, data, and AI. You may also engage customers modernizing legacy on-premises storage—especially NetApp-based environments—by helping define hybrid strategies and migration paths into Azure, coordinating the right technical resources to deliver outcomes.

SoftwareOne is an AI‑forward company. We actively use AI across our business to improve productivity, decision‑making, and outcomes - and we are intentional about hiring people who are curious, hands-on, actively apply AI, and lead by example as technology continues to evolve.

Role & Responsibilities

Scoping and Sizing Opportunities

  • Partner with sales and clients to run discovery and qualify opportunities across cloud, data/AI, and storage—capturing business drivers, success criteria, high-level requirements, and constraints (security, compliance, resilience).
  • Help scope and size cloud and hybrid opportunities at a high level (workload placement, migration approach, and major effort drivers),and align next steps with customer timelines and buying process.

Solution Design and Proposal Development

  • Shape the recommended Azure solution approach with architects—covering core platform needs (identity, security, networking) and key workload components (data/AI and storage), including hybrid and NetApp modernization scenarios.
  • Identify and position Azure Data & AI use cases and solution paths (modern analytics, data platforms, AI enablement), tying capabilities to measurable business outcomes and adoption plans.

Market Research and Insights

  • Stay updated on industry trends, competitor offerings, and emerging technologies to provide valuable insights and enhance our solution offerings.
  • Act as a subject matter expert during client interactions, presentations, and workshops, demonstrating our capabilities and value proposition effectively.

Sales Support and Collaboration

  • Provide guidance and support to the sales team throughout the sales cycle, from initial discovery to solution design and proposal development.
  • Proactively find opportunities for cross-selling or upselling additional products or services to existing clients.
  • Participate in strategic planning sessions to contribute insights and recommendations for business growth and expansion into new markets or service areas.
Job Requirements

What you offer

Required Skills:

  • Demonstrated experience using AI in a practical, applied way — such as improving workflows, automating tasks, enabling better decision‑making, or increasing impact in prior roles. This does not require deep technical or engineering expertise in AI; we value applied use, ownership, and a mindset of continuous learning.

Sales Competencies (with foundational Azure knowledge):

  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding quota in a B2B technology sales, solution sales, presales,  or customer-facing commercial role.
  • Strong pipeline creation and deal progression skills (prospecting, discovery, qualification, account planning, and next-step orchestration).
  • Ability to build executive relationships and sell to business outcomes; confident presenting value propositions and handling objections.
  • Disciplined forecasting and CRM hygiene; communicates deal status, risks, and close plans clearly and consistently.
  • Solid knowledge of Azure and cloud concepts (security, networking, storage, and data) sufficient to run discovery and engage the right specialists—without needing to be an engineer or solution architect.
  • Ability to position, at a high level, common Azure solution areas (cloud migration, storage modernization including NetApp, and Data & AI) and translate customer needs into a clear pursuit plan.
  • Working knowledge of Azure Data & AI concepts and common services (e.g., Fabric/Synapse, Databricks, Data Factory, ADLS, Purview, and Azure AI services/Azure OpenAI) with the ability to position options and bring in specialists for deep dives.
  • Certifications that would be a plus: Microsoft Azure (e.g., AZ-104/AZ-305), Data & AI (e.g., DP-203, AI-102), Azure Security, FinOps; storage-related credentials a plus (e.g., NetApp or equivalent), plus strong Windows Server/Linux fundamentals.

The preceding job profile has been designed to indicate the general nature and level of work performed by associates within this role. It is not designed to contain or be interpreted as a comprehensive inventory of all duties, responsibilities, and qualifications required. Additional duties may be assigned and may be subject to change at any time due to reasonable accommodation or other reasons.

We are not able to consider candidates residing in the state of Hawaii currently.

Success Criteria

  • Increased YoY revenue growth: partners with sellers to shape and progress qualified Azure opportunities (infrastructure, storage modernization, and Data/AI) through the funnel.
  • Win-rate improvement: increases proposal-to-close conversion by running strong discovery, aligning solution approach to outcomes, and addressing objections with credible technical acumen.
  • Margin discipline: consistently supports deals that meet pricing, margin, and delivery viability targets by setting realistic scope and partnering early with delivery leadership.
  • Data & AI growth: helps sellers position analytics and AI opportunities (including GenAI where appropriate) and brings the right specialists to drive technical validation and close plans.

Organizational Alignment

The Azure Solution Sales Consultant reports to the VP of Cloud Solution Sales and collaborates closely across field sales teams, the broader solution sales organization, sales leadership, and the delivery teams.

What we offer

  • Generous pay with quarterly bonus structure
  • Independent environment without a lot of red tape where you are empowered to make decisions
  • Substantial benefits package that includes:
  • Full suite of medical coverage with A+ carriers, Dental, and Vision with strong employer contributions plus additional voluntary coverage available for Pets, Identity Theft Protection, Accident & Critical Illness

  • Specific to Nashville and Milwaukee-based office employees: company-paid parking
  • Winning culture, inclusive environment, and friendly people all over the world
  • A remote-friendly organization, with colleagues working remotely either part or full-time

Target compensation for this role will be $190-220k (mix of base salary and bonus). Actual offers may be higher or lower than this range and will be determined based on a variety of factors, including (but not limited to) candidates’ qualifications, experience, education, and work location.
