Job Description

The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the roadmap, pricing, packaging, and documentation of new product ideas. By maintaining a good customer and market knowledge, this candidate will be able to successfully build and iterate on our products.


General Summary:

As a Senior Product Manager for the Store Operations, you’ll be the bridge between business and technology helping to ensure that technology delivery is matched with the strategies, objectives and needs of business stakeholders.


You will combine expertise in Retail Store Operations, with technology delivery to create product vision & strategy, roadmaps, success measures, and initiatives that are aligned with the needs and strategies of your business stakeholders.


As a member of our IT Product Strategy team, you will be integrated into our delivery teams working closely with Product Owners, Engineering Program Managers, and business stakeholders to ensure technology delivers the maximum value to Dollar General


Duties & Responsibilities:


Defining Product Vision & Strategy

o Develop a deep understanding of your stakeholders’ business function and processes – and the technologies that they use

o Work with Product Owners and engineering teams to understand current and future technology capabilities

o Facilitate the creation of vision & strategy that aligns business needs with technology evolution 25%


Plan & Deliver

o Planning the work including collaborating across different stakeholders, facilitate the setting the priorities, and getting alignment

o Define and document success measures and initiatives to provide engineering teams with the context they need to design and deliver solutions

o Continuously engage during delivery to clarify requirements and help to ensure that deliverables meet needs and fulfil on the required outcomes 35%

Communication

o Keep stakeholders engaged in delivery by facilitating conversations about priorities, requirements, risks, and decisions

o Facilitate cross-functional conversations to help stakeholders understand options and make choices (including facilitating investment decision making) 40%


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs): What KSAs are required to perform this job?

o Strong understanding of retail store operations business function and the technology products that enable this function.

o Technical and business fluency – proficient in facilitating conversations within and between these domains

o Proficiency in product management practices including working closely with Product Owners as a member of an agile delivery team

o Proficiency in creating and maintaining multiple product strategies, roadmaps, success measures, and initiatives

o Proficiency in facilitating the development of success measures (Objective and Key Results)

o Ability to coordinate cross-functional teams and facilitate prioritization and decision-making conversations

o Proficiency in helping to derive and quantify business benefits and in creating business cases to provide investment decision support

o Strong communication skills in listening, speaking, writing, and presenting

o Ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders and guide them to alignment on complex topics


Work Experience &/or Education: What are the minimum education and/or experience requirements necessary to perform this job?


o 5+ years of experience in product management

o Product Management certification or equivalent experience

o Experience with retail store operations functions and related technology products

o 2+ years of people management experience; demonstrated track record of developing Product Managers/Product Owners, building high-performance teams, and managing performance

o 5+ years of retail experience

o Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
