Real Estate Paralegal (Hybrid | Chicago, IL)

A highly regarded global law firm is seeking an experienced Real Estate Paralegal to join its Chicago office. This is a hybrid role with a strong commercial real estate focus, supporting sophisticated transactional work in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment.


The Role

This position supports attorneys handling a broad range of commercial real estate transactions, including acquisitions and dispositions, leasing, and financings. The paralegal will also assist with the real estate components of complex banking and finance transactions in collaboration with the firm’s corporate group.


This role is ideal for a detail‑oriented, proactive paralegal who thrives under deadlines and is comfortable managing multiple deals simultaneously.


Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and resolve diligence issues impacting closings
  • Coordinate directly with title companies and third‑party consultants
  • Review and analyze title commitments, policies, and underlying title documents
  • Interpret and analyze ALTA surveys and zoning reports
  • Review and summarize declarations, REAs, and CCRs
  • Prepare and/or review UCC financing statements
  • Review and summarize UCC, lien, and judgment searches
  • Support complex commercial real estate and finance transactions
  • Coordinate closing and post‑closing documentation
  • Communicate proactively with internal teams and external parties on tight timelines
  • Maintain accurate and timely time entry for client billing


Qualifications

  • 3–5+ years of commercial real estate or transactional paralegal experience
  • Prior experience in a Big Law or mid‑size law firm strongly preferred
  • Ability to manage multiple deals at different stages
  • Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and deadline‑driven
  • Strong initiative with the ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Excellent written communication and proofreading skills
  • Typing speed of 65+ WPM
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Experience with iManage preferred


Compensation

  • Salary: $75,000 – $120,000 (commensurate with experience)
  • Bonus: Eligible
