Role Overview
As an Experienced Technical Consultant – R&D Services, you will play a key role in supporting U.S. clients in identifying and qualifying their innovation activities for R&D tax incentives. You will work closely with both clients and internal financial teams to translate technical projects into eligible claims, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and maximum value.
This role is ideal for professionals with a technical background (engineering, science, or related fields) and an interest in innovation funding and R&D tax incentives. You will contribute directly to client outcomes while supporting Leyton’s growth in the U.S. market.
Key Responsibilities
• Technical Assessments & Eligibility Analysis:
Evaluate client projects to determine eligibility for R&D tax incentives, focusing on technical innovation, experimentation, and qualifying activities.
• Client Engagement & Interviews:
Work directly with client technical teams (engineers, developers, scientists) to gather project details and document qualifying R&D activities.
• Technical Documentation:
Prepare clear and compliant technical reports to support R&D claims, aligning with IRS and state-level requirements.
• Collaboration with Financial Teams:
Partner with financial consultants to translate technical findings into quantifiable claims and ensure accurate submission.
• Audit Support & Defense:
Assist in responding to technical queries from tax authorities and support claim defense when required.
• Regulatory Awareness:
Stay updated on U.S. R&D tax credit guidelines, IRS standards, and relevant legislation impacting eligibility.
• Client Advisory:
Provide insights to clients on how to structure and document their R&D activities to maximize future claims.
• Knowledge Sharing & Best Practices:
Collaborate internally to enhance methodologies, share technical expertise, and improve overall service delivery.
Required Skills & Qualifications
• 1-2 years of experience in R&D consulting, engineering, or technical roles (R&D tax experience is a plus)
• Strong technical background (Engineering, Computer Science, Electronics, or related field)
• Ability to understand and articulate complex technical concepts clearly
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and client-facing skills
• Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Interest in innovation funding, tax credits, and advisory services
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Education
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical, or a related technical field
(Advanced degrees or certifications are a plus but not mandatory.)
