Job Description
A large owner‑representative firm is seeking an experienced MEP Project Manager to support a high‑visibility GSA renovation effort in Washington, DC. This role ensures that all MEP‑specific construction activities performed by the general contractor align with federal requirements, project specifications, and client expectations. The ideal candidate brings strong field experience, deep technical understanding of MEP systems, and the confidence to represent the owner’s interests on a complex, occupied‑facility project.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and evaluate MEP construction work performed by the general contractor to ensure compliance with GSA and project requirements
- Serve as the owner’s onsite representative for all MEP‑related activities
- Conduct daily field walks, review installation quality, and verify adherence to drawings, specifications, and federal standards
- Identify issues early and coordinate solutions with GC, subcontractors, designers, and internal leadership
- Review MEP schedules, sequencing, and phasing to ensure alignment with overall project milestones
- Monitor budget impacts related to MEP trades and support change‑order evaluation
- Provide regular progress updates to the client and internal leadership
- Participate in OAC meetings, technical discussions, and commissioning activities
- Support business development by leveraging industry relationships and identifying future opportunities
Required Skills & Experience
- 7+ years of experience in construction project management with a general contractor or owner’s rep
- Strong background overseeing MEP systems (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) in commercial or federal renovation projects
- Ability to evaluate GC performance, enforce standards, and advocate for the owner
- Demonstrated ability to support or win work through relationships, reputation, or bid participation
- Strong communication, field coordination, and problem‑solving skills
Nice to Have
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field
- PMP certification or similar credential
- Prior GSA or federal project experience
