Summary: Expedite the daily flow of product to be repaired through the shop. Maintain the shop area, materials, supplies and equipment. Assist and support general warehouse operations. Manage the activities of the shop labor under the direction of Warehouse Manager and Corporate Finishing Department Manager.

Responsibilities:

Organize and expedite the flow of items in and out of the shop area and supply what is needed to accomplish efficient and timely product repair.

  • Lead, train and develop shop staff
  • Interpret company policies to workers and enforce safety regulations.
  • Supervision of shop staff, including employee hiring and retention, performance reviews and discipline.
  • Assist shop with hands on repairs when needed.
  • Collect and analyses shop data to insure continuous improvement and assure efficiencies.
  • Maintain in house, the necessary tools and consumables for the smooth operation of all projects.
  • Maintain necessary supply levels to fulfill emergency service needs and unplanned job changes.
  • Produce a monthly supply budget and count of all materials and supplies.
  • Perform random quality control checks on repaired product.
  • Maintain the OSHA shop related programs.
  • Motivate to insure production.
  • Attend process meetings when applicable.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent

Technical Knowledge & Experience:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of shop operations, furniture repair, and finishing techniques
  • Working knowledge of production and/or warehouse operations
  • Proficiency with warehouse operating program software, including:
  • Shop floor control systems
  • Production planning applications
  • Inventory control platforms
  • Computer literacy and ability to work with digital systems

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform heavy lifting as required
  • Capable of maintaining safe work environments and following safety protocols

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with quality management systems and processes
  • Proven customer relations and service skills

Work Environment:

This position is located in an active industrial manufacturing and distribution center with moderate to high noise levels, temperature variations, and material handling equipment in operation. The role may require extended periods of standing or walking on concrete floors and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses and steel-toed boots. The fast-paced environment involves time-sensitive and safety sensitive operations and may include various shift schedules to support production and distribution needs.
