JOB Title: Logistics Business Development Representative - Asset Division
Position Purpose
The Logistics Business Development rep is responsible for soliciting freight orders from a designated and assigned base of Pratt Logistics ‘customers by fax, phone, e-mail, web-based platforms, and electronic data interchange.
Job Functions
- Meets with key clients assisting with maintaining relationships and negotiating and closing deals.
- Develops and maintains relationships with customers, prospective customers based on information from newspapers, business directories, industry ads, trade shows, purchasing contacts or other sources.
- Travel regularly nationally to call upon regular and prospective customers to solicit orders or talk with customers by phone.
- Delivers sales presentations to key clients in coordination with management.
- Quotes prices and credit terms and prepares contracts for orders obtained.
- Consistently and continually solicit committed and non-committed freight orders from a designated and assigned customer base via a multitude of communication exchanges daily, commensurate with company and business level needs.
- Develop and maintain strong customer relationships to allow for the greatest opportunities in generating the highest level of freight order volumes.
- Keep customers informed of the status of deliveries when needed.
- Record and notate customer complaints regarding freight orders. Remedy customer complaints regarding Pratt Logistics to maximize customer satisfaction.
- Developing cold call strategies and then using those strategies to solicit new customers.
- Developing new customers.
- Interface with operations personnel to advise them on any feedback provided by the customer relative to our service, product offers or, changes in their business levels with the company.
- Through words and actions support Pratt Logistics’ mission, vision, and values; furthermore, actions and decisions will align with organizational guiding principles.
- Maintain company, employee, customers, and agent’s confidentiality.
- Maintain proper attendance and punctuality to ensure that the department is operated in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
- Ability to work on any company site or customer location site while performing the essential functions of this position.
Key Knowledge and Experience
- High school diploma or GED equivalent; College degree preferred.
- 3-5 years of work experience in the transportation industry, operations, customer service, direct with customer service solicitation, inside sales or outside sales preferred.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills required.
- Knowledge of Excel and the Internet is required.
- Experience working in a deadline driven environment preferred.
