Injection Molding Process Engineer | Indianapolis, IN | $80K–$110K

Our client is a well-established medical contract manufacturer in Indianapolis specializing in scientific injection molded plastics for drug delivery devices. They are seeking an Injection Molding Process Engineer to join a collaborative team of five engineers focused on developing and optimizing injection molding processes for FDA-regulated medical products.

What Makes This Role Unique

  • Only 30% shop floor time — the majority of your work is desk-based process development, documentation, and analysis. This is rare in the injection molding industry.
  • Clear path to obtaining your Master Molder II certification — fully supported by the company
  • Small, tight-knit team of five engineers plus a lead — collaborative and growth-oriented environment
  • Meaningful work — products include drug delivery devices like epinephrine auto-injectors that directly impact patient outcomes

What You'll Do

  • Develop, implement, and support injection molding processes while driving improvements in quality, cost, and delivery
  • Create detailed manufacturing work instructions, set-up and changeover instructions, control plans, and testing procedures in support of FDA requirements
  • Support continuous improvement through product and process analysis for quality improvements, cost reductions, and improved efficiency
  • Coach, train, and guide molding technicians on process knowledge and best practices
  • Assist in validation efforts for commissioning injection mold tools and equipment
  • Work with project managers in the execution of project plans
  • Assist with development of new tooling and maintenance of existing tooling
  • Coordinate validation efforts with project managers, tool manufacturers, and customers
  • Work toward obtaining Master Molder II credentials

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent experience
  • 3–5 years of experience in plastic injection mold processing
  • Experience working within a heavily regulated environment — FDA, GMP, or similar
  • Knowledge of a variety of design and production methods and materials
  • Ability to manage time and projects while setting and meeting aggressive schedules
  • Scientific molding methodology experience is a strong plus — DOE, Cp/Cpk, validation
  • RJG certification is a plus

Benefits Highlights

  • $80,000–$110,000 base salary depending on experience
  • 5–10% annual performance bonus based on company results
  • 3 weeks PTO starting day one plus 10 paid holidays
  • Full health, dental, vision, and complementary insurance starting day one
  • 401K with 50% match on first 6% — 100% immediately vested
  • Annual profit sharing opportunity
  • Relocation assistance available
