Job Description: Guidewire (GW) Technical Lead

Location: Chicago, IL/NY/Atlanta, GA

Fulltime

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Guidewire Technical Lead with strong expertise in Low-Level Design (LLD), solution architecture, and technical leadership across Guidewire implementations. The ideal candidate will drive end-to-end technical design, ensure adherence to best practices, and lead development teams in delivering high‑quality Guidewire solutions (PolicyCenter, BillingCenter, ClaimCenter).


Key Responsibilities

1. Technical Leadership

  • Lead technical design and development efforts for Guidewire applications (PolicyCenter/BillingCenter/ClaimCenter).
  • Mentor and guide development teams, ensuring adherence to coding standards and best practices.
  • Perform code reviews, optimize performance, and ensure overall technical quality.

2. Design & Architecture

  • Create detailed Low-Level Designs (LLDs) based on approved High-Level Designs (HLDs).
  • Define integration architecture, data flows, and service interactions.
  • Develop reusable frameworks, design patterns, and technical accelerators.
  • Collaborate with solution architects to refine architectural decisions and ensure design consistency.

3. Development & Implementation

  • Develop configurations and customizations using Guidewire Gosu, PCF, data models, and integration tools.
  • Design and implement integrations using SOAP/REST APIs, messaging, and external interfaces.
  • Support data migration, batch processing, and system performance tuning.

4. Project Execution

  • Work closely with functional consultants, business analysts, QA teams, and product owners.
  • Provide accurate effort estimation and contribute to sprint planning.
  • Troubleshoot complex technical issues and drive root cause analysis.

5. Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure solutions follow Guidewire standards and organizational architecture guidelines.
  • Perform unit testing, integration testing support, and documentation.
  • Maintain high coding quality and ensure compliance with security and audit requirements.


Required Skills & Experience

Technical Skills

  • 5–10+ years of experience in Guidewire InsuranceSuite implementations.
  • Strong hands-on knowledge in:
  • Gosu programming
  • PCF UI configuration
  • Data model extensions
  • Integration development (SOAP/REST/Web Services)
  • Batch, rules engine, messaging
  • Expertise in LLD preparation, UML diagrams, sequence diagrams, class diagrams.
  • Experience with Guidewire Cloud (nice to have but preferred).
  • Strong understanding of insurance domain (P&C).

Tools & Technologies

  • Java, XML, GIT, Maven
  • SQL, Oracle/PostgreSQL
  • CI/CD tools: Jenkins, Azure DevOps (preferred)
  • Logging & monitoring tools
