Role Description The Finance Director is a full-time, on-site role based in Miami, FL, responsible for leading the financial management and strategy of Bascom Palmer Eye Institute. This role oversees budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning, and provides financial guidance to support clinical, research, and academic programs. The Finance Director manages the preparation, analysis, and presentation of financial statements and reports for leadership, ensuring compliance with university, healthcare, and regulatory standards. Day-to-day responsibilities include monitoring financial performance, identifying trends and variances, recommending corrective actions, and optimizing resource allocation. The role also involves leading and developing finance staff, collaborating with department leaders on business plans and capital projects, and supporting audits, internal controls, and continuous process improvements.
Qualifications

• Strong expertise in Finance and Financial Planning, including budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial strategy.
• Proficiency in Financial Statements and Financial Reporting, with experience preparing, analyzing, and presenting complex reports to senior leadership.
• Advanced Analytical Skills to interpret financial data, assess performance, and support data-driven decision-making.
• Demonstrated leadership and people management skills, with the ability to guide a finance team and collaborate across clinical and administrative departments.
• Thorough knowledge of healthcare or academic medical center finance, including compliance, reimbursement, and regulatory considerations (preferred).
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field required; advanced degree (MBA, MHA) or relevant certification (e.g., CPA, CMA) preferred.
• High proficiency with financial systems and Excel, and familiarity with enterprise resource planning (ERP) and reporting tools.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively in a diverse, mission-driven environment.
