Lead commercial strategy for one of Phoenix’s most distinctive resort destinations. As Director of Sales and Marketing, you will shape the market position of Hilton Phoenix Tapatio Cliffs Resort, a mountainside property known for its elevated guest experience, expansive event offerings, and standout leisure amenities. This senior leadership role is ideal for a hospitality executive with strong sales acumen, executive presence, and a proven ability to deliver measurable business results.

Job Summary

The Director of Sales & Marketing is a senior leadership role responsible for accelerating revenue growth, expanding market share, and guiding the overall commercial strategy for Hilton Phoenix Tapatio Cliffs Resort. This leader will develop and execute integrated sales and marketing initiatives that strengthen existing business, unlock new opportunities across key market segments, and position the resort for sustained performance.

Overseeing the day-to-day direction of the hotel’s sales division, the successful candidate will lead direct sales efforts, guide forecasting and budgeting, support marketing strategy, and develop a high-performing team focused on results. The ideal candidate brings strategic perspective, operational discipline, and a strong record of building momentum, inspiring teams, and delivering measurable business outcomes.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all group, transient, and catering sales efforts to maximize revenue performance across the property.
  • Develop and execute annual sales, marketing, advertising, and public relations strategies that support occupancy, rate growth, and food & beverage revenue objectives.
  • Build strong client relationships through proactive outside sales calls, property tours, and strategic entertainment opportunities.
  • Review and negotiate contracts with confidence, ensuring terms align with business goals and operational success.
  • Stay closely attuned to market trends, competitive activity, and revenue opportunities to inform proactive sales strategies.
  • Monitor top account production and market performance, using insights to adjust strategy and drive results.
  • Deliver against individual and team revenue goals while maintaining alignment with budgeted performance targets.
  • Inspire and educate hotel teams to recognize and convert sales opportunities that increase occupancy and overall revenue.
  • Partner with the General Manager and Corporate HR to attract, develop, coach, and retain top talent.
  • Oversee the Catering & Event Management team, when applicable, to help achieve or exceed catering, food & beverage, and meeting room rental goals.
  • Build strong cross-functional knowledge of hotel operations, including Sales, Food & Beverage, Front Office, and Reservations, to drive aligned commercial success.
  • Maintain a visible presence in the local community and industry organizations to strengthen partnerships and brand awareness.
  • Lead and participate in regular business reviews and team meetings, providing ongoing coaching, direction, and support.
  • Cultivate strong internal and external partnerships with marketing teams and key business partners to advance commercial initiatives.
  • Travel as needed to support business development efforts.


Qualifications

  • 10+ years of progressive hotel sales experience preferred.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to negotiate, influence, and build strong relationships with clients, guests, and internal stakeholders.
  • Strong command of professional selling techniques, including opening, probing, supporting, and closing.
  • Strategic thinker with strong analytical skills and the ability to deploy effective sales strategies in a competitive market.
  • Highly organized and able to manage multiple priorities independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate diverse teams, solve complex challenges, and foster a collaborative, high-performance culture.
  • Advanced knowledge of sales, marketing, and hospitality best practices.
  • Comfortable working with financial data, revenue reporting, and core business metrics.
  • Ability to remain composed, confident, and solutions-oriented in high-pressure situations.
  • Strong presentation, leadership, and team development skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general business technology tools.
  • Valid driver’s license in the applicable state required.
