Director of Finance (Healthcare)

Location: Boston, Massachusetts (Hybrid)

Employment Type: Direct Hire, Full-Time

Salary: Up to $234,000 + Benefits

Position Overview

Randstad, in partnership with our client, a leading hospital and healthcare system in the Greater Boston area, is seeking a visionary and operationally-focused Director of Finance to oversee financial strategy and operational excellence across our affiliate network. This is a critical leadership role designed for a professional who thrives on bridging the gap between high-level strategy and day-to-day execution.

The ideal candidate is a "fixer"—someone who can diagnose systemic operational inefficiencies within a healthcare environment and implement robust, scalable solutions. You will serve as a key advisor to executive leadership, ensuring that our financial health supports our mission of providing exceptional care across all affiliates.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Execution: Drive the long-term financial roadmap for the organization, translating executive vision into actionable financial targets.
  • Operational Problem Solving: Conduct deep-dive assessments of affiliate operations to identify bottlenecks, revenue leakages, or process failures. Design and lead "turnaround" initiatives to improve efficiency.
  • Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with board members, affiliate leaders, and department heads. Act as the primary financial voice in cross-functional strategic meetings.
  • Affiliate Oversight: Monitor the financial performance of multiple affiliate organizations, ensuring consistency in reporting, compliance, and fiscal discipline.
  • Financial Reporting & Analysis: Oversee the preparation of complex financial statements, budgets, and forecasts, providing narrative-driven insights to stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Healthcare Expertise: Minimum of 7 to 10+ years of progressive financial leadership experience specifically within the healthcare industry.
  • Proven Track Record: Demonstrated experience identifying and resolving operational issues in a complex, multi-site or affiliate-based organizational structure.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Healthcare Administration required; MBA or CPA preferred.
  • Strategic Mindset: Exceptional ability to manage stakeholder expectations and influence decision-making at the executive level.
  • Location: Must be based in or willing to commute to Boston for a hybrid work schedule.
