Most project management roles in construction are about following established schedules. This one is about owning execution—and correcting course when field conditions force change.
2 Hour Learning is building a nationwide microschool network that delivers a complete day of education in two hours through AI-driven instruction. That vision requires speed and precision on the ground. Every permitting holdup, every misstep in trade sequencing, every breakdown in contractor handoffs directly slows our growth. This position exists to eliminate those breakdowns and transform construction into a reliable, scalable process.
You will operate in the field to drive builds forward. Managing contractor relationships. Holding schedules. Resolving sequencing conflicts before they cascade into delays. Simultaneously, you will deploy AI and digital systems to cut manual overhead, increase transparency, and speed up delivery. This is active, hands-on project management. You are the person who intervenes when schedules drift and restores momentum.
If you have worked in or around construction and felt held back by weak coordination, inconsistent accountability, or endless reactive problem-solving, this is your opportunity to lead execution properly—and at scale.
What You Will Be Doing
- Manage daily on-site construction coordination, interfacing directly with contractors to ensure tasks are sequenced correctly and completed on time
- Take ownership of project schedules, monitoring key milestones, surfacing risks proactively, and executing corrective measures when slippage happens
- Leverage platforms such as Procore, Asana, or MS Project to organize tasks, maintain documentation, and monitor progress across live projects
- Facilitate permitting processes by monitoring submissions, addressing feedback, and aligning stakeholders to keep approvals moving
- Integrate AI-powered tools to streamline planning, documentation, and decision workflows, cutting down on manual work and boosting execution velocity
What You Won’t Be Doing
- Observing project data from a distance without stepping in to correct course when timelines begin to slip
- Overseeing projects at a strategic level only, disconnected from the realities of site logistics and trade dependencies
- Depending on legacy manual methods for tracking work or communicating with field teams
- Sidestepping tough discussions with contractors or partners when schedule commitments are threatened
- Delaying action on emerging problems while waiting for complete clarity
Commercial Construction Project Manager Key Responsibilities
Lead the timely delivery of school construction projects by managing field coordination, maintaining schedule discipline, and enhancing speed and reliability through digital tools and AI.
Basic Requirements
- Hands-on construction experience (site coordination, contractor oversight, or schedule management) with the ability to walk through a concrete project example, your responsibilities, and how you navigated execution obstacles
- Proven experience managing or coordinating project schedules, including building timelines, monitoring progress, and enforcing deadlines, with at least one instance of addressing a schedule slip or change
- Working proficiency in at least one digital project management platform (such as Procore, Asana, MS Project) and the capacity to describe its application on an actual project
- Familiarity with construction trade sequencing and the ability to recount a specific case where sequencing choices affected schedule outcomes
- Practical knowledge of permitting processes (submissions, plan reviews, corrections, interactions with authorities having jurisdiction) with hands-on participation in at least one cycle
- Documented application of AI tools to speed up actual work, with a specific example showing the tool, the output it produced, and your method for verifying accuracy
- Availability and readiness to work on-site a minimum of 3 days per week, with travel approximately 60% of the time across various U.S. locations depending on project requirements
- Based in the United States with authorization to work independently of visa sponsorship
Nice-to-have Requirements
- Background managing multiple construction projects simultaneously
- Experience in fast-moving or rapid-growth construction environments with compressed delivery schedules
- Enthusiasm for refining construction workflows using automation or process standardization
