Role Overview

The Building Automation Service Technician is responsible for servicing, maintaining, and troubleshooting BAS/DDC systems across commercial and industrial facilities. This field-based role supports system performance, reliability, and customer satisfaction through hands-on technical expertise.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform startup, commissioning, and functional testing of BAS/DDC systems
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair HVAC controls and automation systems
  • Execute preventative maintenance and implement system upgrades or modifications
  • Perform programming adjustments, system configuration, and point-to-point checkout
  • Work with BAS protocols such as BACnet, Modbus, LON, and IP-based networks
  • Respond to service calls, including occasional after-hours support
  • Collaborate with customers, contractors, and internal teams to complete projects
  • Maintain accurate service documentation and ensure safe work practices

  • Accurate and complete service documentation

A hands-on, mechanically and technically inclined problem-solver who enjoys working in the field. You’re eager to grow your skills in building automation, take pride in troubleshooting systems, and value both independence and teamwork.


Qualifications

  • Experience with HVAC systems, controls, or BAS/DDC environments
  • Basic understanding of electrical, mechanical, and control systems
  • Ability to read blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical documents
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and willingness to learn
  • Effective communication and organizational skills

Preferred:

  • Experience with BACnet, Modbus, LON, or IP-based networks
  • Familiarity with Niagara N4, Schneider Electric, or similar platforms
  • Trade school, vocational training, or equivalent experience
