Assistant Director of Operations

At The Goddard School, we create a nurturing environment where children thrive and educators grow as leaders. We are seeking a passionate, organized Assistant Director of Operations to support leadership and ensure excellence across daily school operations.

This role is ideal for someone ready to make an impact, build strong relationships, and grow within a high-quality early childhood program.

Role Overview

The Assistant Director of Operations partners with the School Director to oversee daily operations including staffing, enrollment, compliance, and family experience. This is a hands-on leadership role that supports a safe, organized, and positive school environment.

Key Responsibilities

Operations & Leadership

  • Support daily operations and act as leader when needed
  • Coach and support faculty to ensure strong classroom experiences
  • Maintain staffing levels within budget
  • Ensure licensing, QA, and safety compliance


Family & Enrollment

  • Build strong relationships with families
  • Conduct tours and support enrollment and retention
  • Communicate clearly and consistently with families
  • Represent the school in the community


Compliance & Environment

  • Maintain safe, clean, organized school environment
  • Manage licensing documentation, ratios, and health records
  • Ensure compliance with regulations and updates
  • Support required trainings and audits


Team Support

  • Assist with onboarding and training faculty
  • Provide feedback, coaching, and development support
  • Support a positive, collaborative school culture


Qualifications

Candidates must meet one of the following per Ohio Department of Job and Family Services:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Elementary Education, or related field (preferred)
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field with early childhood coursework (18 semester hours)
  • Associate degree in Early Childhood Education or related field with leadership experience
  • Associate degree in related field with progressive childcare experience


Additional requirements:

  • 1+ year leadership or management experience (childcare preferred)
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to support classrooms when needed
  • Knowledge of childcare licensing standards
  • Compliance with Ohio Administrative Code 5101:2-12-07
  • Completion of required trainings
