Industrial companies across the United States continue to invest in digital transformation to improve operational performance, reduce emissions, and stay competitive. At Orise, we support this evolution by delivering advanced control and optimization solutions that help process industry clients operate more safely, efficiently, and sustainably.

To strengthen our US operations, we are seeking an experienced Advanced Process Control (APC) Project Engineer to join our international Plant Operations Excellence team.

Role Overview

As an APC Project Engineer at Orise, you will design, implement, and support high value APC and optimization solutions for clients across North America. You’ll collaborate closely with both Orise engineers and customer teams, taking full ownership of your scope, deliverables, and technical quality.

Your work will directly improve plant reliability, efficiency, and operational safety.

This role involves frequent short duration travel within the US and occasionally internationally.

Key Responsibilities

Core APC & Optimization Work (Primary Focus)

• Analyze plant operations, constraints, and historical data to identify performance improvement opportunities

• Tune and troubleshoot PID/base layer controllers

• Prepare APC Functional Design Specifications (FDS)

• Plan and execute step tests

• Build dynamic process models used in APC applications

• Configure, simulate, and validate MPC controllers (Aspen DMC3, Yokogawa PACE, Honeywell Profit Suite RMPCT, INCA, etc.)

• Commission and maintain APC applications on site

• Conduct benefit studies and clearly communicate results to customer leadership

Optional / Secondary (when relevant)

These skills are beneficial but not required—they simply enhance your ability to support evolving customer needs:

• Exposure to AI assisted optimization techniques

• Familiarity with Digital Process Twins used for simulation or performance monitoring

• Interest in advanced analytics or data driven enhancements of APC solutions

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering (Chemical, Process, Control, Electrical, or similar)

• 7+ years of hands on experience in APC, MPC, and/or base layer control

• Strong communication skills, comfortable working directly with operators, engineers, and plant management

• Ability to navigate dynamic project environments and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams

• Willingness to travel frequently

• Preferably based in or near Houston, TX

• Strong experience with Aspentech DMC3

• Significant advantage: experience with Yokogawa PACE and/or Honeywell Profit Suite (RMPCT)

• Optional (not required): exposure to AI optimization or digital twin concepts

• Customer focused mindset, high sense of ownership, and dedication to delivering top quality solutions

What We Offer

At Orise, engineers are trusted with responsibility and independence from day one. We offer a highly international environment with challenging projects, technical depth, and opportunities to grow.

We provide:

• Competitive salary and benefits

• Flexibility in organizing your work

• Exposure to a wide range of US based process industry sites and technologies

• A collaborative, open, and supportive work culture

• Opportunities to shape impactful optimization and digitalization initiatives
