Senior SQL Server DBA Job Description:
- Hands-on SQL Server administration experience.
- Strong expertise in SQL Server 20122022 platforms.
- Design, implement, and maintain highavailability SQL Server database environments (Always On, Failover Clustering, Log Shipping, Replication).
- Perform database installation, configuration, upgrades, patching, and migration across onpremises and cloud platforms.
- Monitor database performance and proactively tune queries, indexes, and server settings to ensure optimal performance.
- Develop, optimize, and maintain TSQL scripts, stored procedures, functions, and automation jobs.
- Ensure database security through rolebased access control, encryption, auditing, and compliance standards.
- Manage backup/restore strategies using native SQL Server tools or enterprise backup solutions.
- Troubleshoot complex database issues related to performance, connectivity, blocking, deadlocks, and resource contention.
- Implement capacity planning, storage forecasting, and performance baselines for longterm scalability.
- Collaborate with application, infrastructure, DevOps, and cloud teams to support development and production environments.
- Maintain and enforce database best practices, standards, and documentation.
- Manage SQL Server workloads in Azure/AWS, including Azure SQL DB, Managed Instance, or EC2based SQL environments.
- Automate deployments and maintenance using PowerShell, Azure DevOps pipelines, or InfrastructureasCode tools.
- Work with CI/CD pipelines for schema deployments and database version control.
- Design and validate DR strategies, perform regular failover testing, and ensure enterprisegrade RPO/RTO compliance.
- Provide technical leadership for database architecture and solution design.
- Mentor junior DBAs and developers on best practices and performance tuning.
- Participate in oncall rotations and provide escalation support for major incidents.
- Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate or equivalent are preferred.
