Are you ready to validate cutting‑edge optical and metrology systems while partnering with multidisciplinary engineering teams

At Zygo, your expertise will directly support our core values of curiosity, collaboration, and persistence. For over 50 years, Zygo Corporation, an AMETEK division, has been a global leader in advanced optical metrology systems and ultra‑precise optical components and assemblies. Our solutions enable customer success across industries such as semiconductor manufacturing, aerospace and defense, medical devices, precision machining, and research.

We are seeking a Test Engineer to support the verification and validation of complex hardware and software systems. In this role, you will design and execute test strategies, develop test plans, support system‑level testing, and ensure strong traceability between requirements, testing, and released products. You will collaborate closely with Engineering, QA, and cross‑functional stakeholders to improve product quality, reliability, and process rigor.

This role includes hands‑on system testing, test automation, and ownership of lab environments and test equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform system‑level testing of hardware and software for new product development projects and re‑release of existing products.
  • Develop, maintain, and execute comprehensive test plans covering functional, integration, regression, and system testing.
  • Update and maintain test plans and test assets for product revisions and re‑releases.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to investigate, reproduce, and diagnose issues, supporting root cause analysis.
  • Maintain end‑to‑end test traceability aligned with design, development, and requirements documentation.
  • Monitor project testing status and provide regular updates to management and stakeholders.
  • Prepare periodic test reports, quality metrics, and status summaries.
  • Own and maintain the test laboratory environment, including instruments, setups, calibration, and general lab readiness.
  • Support and drive quality process improvements, ensuring adherence to defined testing and QA processes.
  • Execute and support automated testing activities, including integration with Continuous Integration (CI) environments.
  • Participate in Agile development activities and contribute to continuous improvement of testing practices.

Key Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in quality assurance, test engineering, or software/hardware testing.
  • Hands‑on experience developing and executing manual and automated test programs.
  • Experience integrating automated testing with CI tools.
  • Proven ability to generate and maintain test plans for hardware and software systems.
  • Working knowledge of electronics test equipment such as oscilloscopes, digital voltmeters, signal generators, and similar instruments.
  • Experience working in an Agile development environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and data analysis utilities.
  • Strong communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across engineering disciplines.
  • Experience providing technical guidance or leadership for small teams or project efforts.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience generating and managing test plans and test artifacts in Azure DevOps.
  • Experience testing advanced imaging sensors or complex electro‑optical systems.
  • Strong background in test automation frameworks and methodologies.
  • Familiarity with structured quality systems and formal development lifecycles.

Bring your passion for quality, testing, and problem‑solving to Zygo, where innovation, precision, and collaboration are at the core of everything we do. You will have the opportunity to work on advanced technologies, contribute to high‑impact products, and grow your career in a supportive, high‑performance engineering environment.
