Job Description

Position Title: GBS R2R GL Accountant

Segment: GBS R2R APAC (Singapore-Malaysia)

Shift Timings: 7 AM IST to 4 PM IST

Location: Goregaon East, Mumbai


Responsible for accurate and timely general ledger activities and financial reporting for the APAC entities (Singapore-Malaysia) within GBS. Ensures high-quality, customer-focused service delivery aligned with SLAs, supporting country finance needs and early log-in requirements to match business hours. The role requires the ability to work effectively in a high-pressure, deadline-driven environment, along with strong verbal and written communication skills to engage with stakeholders across levels.

Functional Responsibilities:

  • Execute pre-close and month-end close activities in accordance with IFRS, local accounting standards, and company policies.
  • Fixed Assets: Manage the end-to-end fixed asset lifecycle, including asset creation, capitalization, depreciation, disposals, and preparation of supporting schedules, while ensuring CWIP balances are closely monitored and minimized.
  • Intercompany Transactions: Process intercompany invoices, perform HFM reporting and reconciliations, resolve discrepancies with counterparties, and account for related bank receipts accurately and on time.
  • Reporting: Ensure timely, complete, and accurate submission of SONAR and HFM reports at entity level in line with group reporting deadlines.
  • Accruals: Record monthly accruals for expenses and provisions to ensure accurate financial reporting and period-end completeness.
  • SG&A Analysis: Perform detailed analysis of Selling, General and Administrative expenses to support cost control, variance analysis, and management reporting.
  • Reconciliations & Analysis: Review and follow up on open or unreconciled items, and perform monthly and quarterly flux analysis on intercompany-related balance sheet and P&L accounts.
  • Documentation Tracking: Maintain and monitor trackers for pending, missing, or delayed documentation to support audit readiness and process compliance.
  • General Ledger: Post journal entries, corrections, and reclassifications accurately to maintain the integrity of financial records.
  • Audit Support: Provide support for internal, external, and tax audits by preparing required schedules, documents, and explanations in a timely manner.
  • Systems & Data Flow: Develop a strong understanding of end-to-end system and ledger data flows to support issue resolution, reporting accuracy, and process efficiency.
  • ERP Implementation: Actively support ERP implementation activities, including UAT, parallel run, data validation, and go-live readiness.
  • Other R2R Activities: Support additional Record-to-Report responsibilities and ad hoc activities as assigned by the business or reporting manager.
  • Consistently deliver against agreed SLAs and KPIs for all assigned processes and reporting timelines.
  • Drive continuous process improvement across accounting activities while ensuring adherence to internal controls, policies, and standard operating procedures.

Qualifications

  • Chartered Accountant (Intermediate) or MBA in Finance from a recognized institution or Masters degree in Commerce (M.Com) or Equivalent

Experience

  • 3-5 years of hands-on experience in journal preparation and posting, intercompany accounting, HFM reporting and reconciliations, preferably within a Shared Services environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Local GAAP and IFRS, with proven application in month-end close and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in financial systems such as AX, MS Dynamics 365, SAP, HFM, and other reporting tools.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to escalate and resolve accounting issues through appropriate channels to ensure timely closure.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to perform effectively under pressure in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments.
