Position: R&D and Purchasing Controller

Department: Finance
Reporting To: VP- Finance

Role Purpose

The role requires the incumbent to own Purchasing & R&D Controlling. The person will act as a financial business partner to Purchase Team and simultaneously be responsible for R&D Controlling and would ensure financial discipline, cost governance, compliance, accounting and value optimisation.

Job Description:

R&D Controlling & Accounting:

• Preparation of Annual Operating Plan (AOP) for Business Units
• Financial Outlook and forecast/ Projections on Quarterly basis
• Sales, Opex, Margin working, Cash flow, understanding and analysis, etc.
• Month end closing process for financial reporting, preparation of monthly Financials and reports (i.e. P&L a/c, project profitability etc. with income & expenses analysis and ownership for Balance Sheet) in ERP set-up (SAP S4-HANA)
• MIS & Reporting for monthly, Quarterly and Annual periods
• R&D Accounting (Opex & Capex).
• Business Productivity analysis for continuous improvements.
• Review and control of marketing expenses/service Expenses including warranty/ replacement cost.

Purchase Controlling:

• Budgeting and Cost Planning: Budgets, Cost assumptions & Savings projections
• Cost Control and Price Benchmarking:
• Develop cost models for: materials, Components, Contract Mfg
• Conduct: Price benchmarking, Should-cost analysis, Market trend analysis
• Establish financial controls and governance over procurement processes.
• Compliance with: DOA, Budget approval, Opex controls
• Act as Finance Business Partner to Purchase team for Cost negotiations, evaluation of vendors, Strategic sourcing decisions & vendor negotiations for procurement contracts.
• Vendor Financial Evaluation: Financials & credit Risk, credit limit, payments
• Contract and Commercial Risk Management: Review commercial terms in different types of contracts
• Procurement MIS and Analytics: Procurement Dashboard, spend and variance analysis & monthly procurement performance reports to leadership
• Compliance and Audit Support: Support Internal controls, Audits & ensuring purchase SOPs in place
• Cross-functional Coordination: Work closely with Production, R&D, Quality, Projects & Finance
• Digital literacy: Good command on SAP S4/HANA, MS-Office: MS Excel, MS PPT, Power BI. Knowledge of AI and its application will be added advantage.
• Compliance & Audit SOP & COA management, Handling Internal Audit, Stat Audit, Physical stock verification with External Auditors on periodic basis.

Required Qualifications

• Chartered Accountant (CA) / Cost Accountant (CMA) – Preferred
  OR
• MBA (Finance) with strong procurement finance exposure

Experience Requirements

• 4-6+ years of experience in:
• Manufacturing finance / Procurement finance / Supply chain finance
