Role & responsibilities
Strong hands-on experience in Oracle Database Administration (48+ years).
Provide 24x7 shared support for multiple Oracle database environments (Production, UAT, Test, and Development).
Install, configure, upgrade, and patch Oracle databases (11g, 12c, 18c, 19c, and above) on Linux/UNIX and Windows platforms.
Database health checks and monitoring
Backup and recovery using RMAN
Space management and capacity planning
Index maintenance, statistics gathering, and housekeeping
Manage Oracle RAC, ASM, and Data Guard environments, including switchover and failover activities.
Handle incidents, service requests, and changes in alignment with ITSM processes (Incident, Problem, Change Management).
Perform root cause analysis (RCA) for recurring and critical issues and implement preventive measures.
Ensure timely resolution of tickets as per defined SLA and KPI targets.
Participate in planned maintenance windows, DR drills, and emergency change activities.
Proactively monitor database performance and perform SQL tuning and database performance optimization.
Analyze AWR, ASH, and ADDM reports to identify performance bottlenecks.
Work closely with application teams to tune queries and optimize database design.
Support database audits, compliance checks, and vulnerability remediation activities.
Manage and support backup, restore, and disaster recovery strategies.
Execute and document DR drills and ensure readiness as per customer and regulatory requirements.
Support storage migrations, platform migrations, and cloud/hybrid database deployments when required.
Create and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs), runbooks, and technical documentation.
Contribute to knowledge base (KEDB) and mentor junior DBAs within the shared support team.
Participate in knowledge transfer (KT) sessions for new customers or team members.
Participate in service review meetings (Weekly / Monthly / MBRs) and provide operational insights.
Communicate effectively with customers, application teams, infrastructure teams, and vendors.
Exposure to cloud databases (OCI / AWS / Azure – Oracle workloads) is an added advantage.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and decision-making skills.
Ability to manage priorities and work under pressure in a 24x7 support setup.
