Implements operational quality assurance goals, focusing on ensuring adherence to quality assurance standards and regulatory compliance requirements. Contributes to implementing new testing methodologies, process improvements, or inspection protocols, such as refining defect tracking systems, updating product testing criteria, or optimizing documentation workflows for compliance audits. May manage smaller quality assurance projects and/or validation processes, including coordinating supplier audits, overseeing corrective action plans, and supporting the introduction of new testing procedures for product reliability assessments. Problems and issues are typically recurring but varied, requiring the analysis of multiple factors, such as evaluating trends in defect occurrences, troubleshooting inconsistencies in manufacturing outputs, and ensuring process adjustments align with regulatory standards. Communicates with internal and external parties within and outside of the quality assurance function. Collaborates with production teams to address product non-conformances, works with suppliers to resolve material quality concerns, and liaises with customers to analyze and respond to product quality complaints.
We are seeking a seasoned Global Supplier Quality Engineer to join our Quality Assurance Team.
The Global Supplier Quality Engineer (India) works as part of the Global Supplier Quality team to ensure that the products and services received from external proprietary material and third-party logistics suppliers under contract for VWR/Avantor meet the quality standards expected by the customer. This role involves evaluating, monitoring, and improving supplier performance, implementing quality assurance procedures/processes, and working closely with cross-functional teams to maintain the highest level of product integrity and compliance.
Major Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Work within the Global Supplier Quality team to ensure qualification of suppliers providing proprietary materials produced under contract for VWR/Avantor, and Third-Party Logistics service providers providing logistics services.
- Trend of product quality SCARS issued to suppliers for proprietary materials which are produced under contract for VWR/Avantor as part of quarterly supplier quality review board meetings.
- Conduct thorough evaluations and/or audits of new and current suppliers to ensure they meet regulatory and company-specific quality standards, including ISO, FDA, IPEC, ICH, GDP and other relevant guidelines, where applicable.
- Collaborate with suppliers to develop corrective actions from audit findings and drive completion of supplier audit responses.
- Maintain accurate records of supplier quality evaluations, audits, and associated documentation utilizing eQMS system.
- Participate in project team meetings to ensure quality and operational procedures and requirements are clearly understood and communicated to the supplier.
- Respond with a high sense of urgency to quality issues and escalate / communicate effectively.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications (Education, Training, Experience, Certifications)
- Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry, biology, natural science, or related field.
- Minimum of three (3) years experience in quality management.
- Proven experience in supplier quality management and supplier auditing in consumer, pharmaceutical or medical device industry.
- Strong knowledge of quality management systems (QMS), ISO standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and Good Distribution Practice (GDP).
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Excellent prioritization, organization and project and task management skills
- Strong interpersonal skills to ensure effective teaming/collaboration across the global supplier quality team.
- Functional knowledge of Microsoft Outlook/Word/Excel/ PowerPoint/Teams.
- Must be able to balance multiple tasks and prioritize efficiently.
- Self-motivated to develop and maintain the global supplier quality program and drive improvements across the network.
- Good communication skills.
Environmental Working Conditions & Physical Effort
- Up to 50% travel, both domestic and international including Avantor and supplier manufacturing facilities.
- Works in an administrative area/office or suitably equipped home office.
- A frequent volume of work and deadlines impose strain on routine basis.
- Minimal physical effort is required.
