Job Title: Senior Data Scientist
Job Purpose
The organization's digital and technology team is focused on delivering world-class digital capabilities across products and services. Leveraging IoT, advanced analytics, and AI, the team works with large-scale connected asset data to drive innovation and business value.
The Advanced Data Quality team is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to improve platform data quality by defining metrics, performing root cause analysis, and developing machine learning/AI solutions. This role involves working with large, diverse datasets and supporting internal stakeholders with analytics and insights.
Key Responsibilities
Core Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain data quality dashboards and enterprise-level reports
- Provide analytics support to high-visibility data initiatives and projects
- Generate insights and recommendations for designers, product owners, and leadership
- Independently handle medium to high complexity projects
- Manage and contribute to multiple projects simultaneously (2–3 at a time)
Technical & Functional Duties
- Design, develop, test, and deploy machine learning models and data science solutions
- Perform root cause analysis on data quality issues
- Work with large-scale structured and unstructured datasets
- Build and integrate models into data pipelines
- Develop visualizations and dashboards using BI tools
Leadership & Collaboration
- Mentor junior team members and provide technical guidance
- Maintain high standards of software quality and best practices
- Identify process improvements and innovation opportunities
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
- Communicate insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Additional Responsibilities
- Support critical production issues, including off-hours if required
- Conduct integration testing and user acceptance testing
- Maintain technical and functional documentation
- Ensure data solutions meet accuracy, integrity, and completeness standards
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in:
- Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, Finance, or related field
- 7+ years of software development experience
- (or 5+ years with a Master's degree)
- 5+ years of experience in:
- Data processing and machine learning frameworks
- Python programming and database technologies (NoSQL & relational)
- 3+ years of SQL experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in a quantitative discipline
- Experience with:
- Cleaning and standardizing complex datasets
- Handling structured and unstructured data
- Building machine learning models:
- Classification and regression
- Unsupervised learning
- Strong understanding of:
- Statistical methods
- Data analytics techniques
- Data management principles
Technical Skills (Preferred)
- Cloud platforms (AWS preferred):
- Athena, Glue, DynamoDB, EC2, EMR, RDS, S3, SageMaker
- Snowflake data warehouse
- Visualization tools:
- Tableau, Power BI
- Experience deploying ML models into production environments
