About Position:

The Compute On‑Premises Engineer (Unix/Linux) is responsible for designing, building, operating, and optimizing Unix and Linux‑based compute environments across on‑premises datacenters, server rooms, and AWS cloud infrastructure. This role ensures availability, performance, security, and lifecycle management of Unix/Linux servers supporting business‑critical applications in a hybrid environment

What You'll Do:

• Install, configure, and administer Unix/Linux servers (RHEL, Oracle Linux, SUSE, CentOS/Rocky, AIX/Solaris as applicable).
• Perform day‑to‑day system administration including health checks, patching, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
• Manage user accounts, groups, permissions, sudo rules, and authentication mechanisms.
• Ensure system availability through proactive monitoring and issue resolution.
• Collaborate with network, storage, database, security, cloud, and application teams.

Expertise You'll Bring:

• Support physical and virtual Unix/Linux servers across enterprise datacenters and distributed server rooms.
• Coordinate server provisioning, rack and stack activities, decommissioning, and hardware refresh.
• Work with facilities teams on power, cooling, rack space, and access control.
• Maintain accurate asset, configuration, and capacity documentation. Administer Unix/Linux workloads on VMware vSphere, KVM, or other enterprise hypervisors.
• Manage VM lifecycle activities including provisioning, resizing, and decommissioning.
• Perform capacity planning and troubleshoot host and guest OS performance issues.
• Deploy and manage Linux‑based EC2 instances across AWS accounts and regions.
• Perform OS hardening, patching, kernel updates, and performance monitoring.
• Support hybrid connectivity between on‑prem and AWS environments.
• Participate in cloud cost optimization and resilience initiatives.
• Monitor system health, performance, and availability using enterprise monitoring tools.
• Provide L2/L3 support for Unix/Linux compute incidents and participate in major incident bridges.
• Perform root cause analysis and implement preventive solutions.
• Execute regular OS patching and vulnerability remediation.
• Apply security hardening standards and system baselines.
• Support audits, compliance checks, and remediation programs.
• Manage SSH keys, certificates, service accounts, and privileged access securely.
