Role Overview

  • We are looking for an Android Automotive Operations Performance Engineer to own postproduction triage, system stability, and performance optimization for Android Automotive (AAOS) IVI platforms.
  • This role acts as a first line of technical ownership once the product is live, combining field issue triage, customer impact control, and deep systemlevel performance optimization across the Android stack (App Framework HAL Kernel).
  • You will work closely with HMI, Android Framework, Backend, Telematics, QA, Tier1 partners, and Product teams to ensure fast issue containment, rootcause direction, SLA adherence, and productiongrade performance.
Key Responsibilities
1. Production Triage Field Issue Management
  • Act as first point of contact for all postrelease field issues on Android Automotive IVI systems
  • Perform firstlevel technical triage to identify:
    • Impacted modules (HMI, Framework, Backend, Telematics, Platform)
    • Severity, priority, and customer impact
    • Likely rootcause direction
  • Reproduce customer issues, collect ADB / Logcat / Dumpsys / system traces, and ensure clear defect evidence
  • Ensure correct routing, fast containment, and zero handoff delays between teams
2. Customer Communication Incident Control
  • Own endtoend customer and stakeholder communication
  • Provide quick acknowledgment, structured updates, and closure summaries
  • Proactively manage critical incidents, preventing escalations through early intervention
  • Maintain strong SLA and timeline control for response and resolution
3. Performance Optimization (Android Automotive)
  • Analyze and optimize performance across App Framework HAL Kernel
  • Drive improvements in:
    • Boot time and app launch time
    • UI rendering and GPU performance
    • CPU, memory, I/O, and multithreading efficiency
  • Identify performance bottlenecks and regressions using:
    • Perfetto, Systrace, Android Studio Profiler, Heap Analyzer
4. Memory, Stability APK Optimization
  • Perform deepdive analysis of:
    • Heap dumps, memory leaks, GC behavior
    • Native (C/C++) and managed memory usage
  • Improve system stability and memory footprint
  • Optimize APK/AAB size using:
    • ProGuard / R8
    • Resource optimization and modularization
  • Ensure efficient handling of images, animations, and HMI assets
