Role Title: Asst. Manager-Linux & VMware Engineer
Role Overview:
The Linux & VMware Engineer will be responsible for supporting and enhancing a brownfield enterprise environment, with a focus on Linux systems, VMware virtualization platforms, identity and access management, and secure authentication services. The role includes day-to-day operations, troubleshooting, optimization, and continuous improvement of existing infrastructure while ensuring stability, security, and governance compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Linux & Operating System Management:
• Administer and support Linux operating systems including Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Ubuntu, and Linux Mint.
• Perform OS installation, patching, upgrades, and performance tuning.
• Troubleshoot system-level issues related to CPU, memory, storage, networking, and kernel behavior.
VMware & Virtualization:
• Administer and support VMware environments including ESXi and vCenter.
• Manage virtual machines lifecycle provisioning, capacity planning, and decommissioning.
• Perform VMware patching, upgrades, and health checks.
• Troubleshoot VM performance, storage, and host-level issues.
Identity & Access Management (IAM):
• Administer Red Hat Identity Management (IdM).
• Manage user and group lifecycle including provisioning, de-provisioning, and access reviews.
• Integrate and support LDAP-based authentication services.
• Manage Samba Active Directory services and Linux integration.
Authentication & Security Services:
• Configure and maintain TACACS+ (tac_plus-ng).
• Support VPN authentication using RADIUS and OTP mechanisms.
• Ensure adherence to enterprise security policies and compliance standards.
